Christopher Moklebust I remember hearing Son Lux's We Are Rising years ago and thinking that it was one of those rare instances of progressivism within a genre of music filled by mediocrity. Plus, I've always considered vocals to be rather tertiary in importance - and, for the most part, the instrumentals within this album are deserving of critical praise. To put it simply... it's just cool man! Favorite track: Flickers - Instrumental.

Thomas Filepp It's interesting to hear a lot of the subtleties close up that you wouldn't be able to pick out on the proper album. Favorite track: Flickers - Instrumental.
Michael Rodino

Michael Rodino I will listen to the instrumentals and the full record back to back on repeat on a regular basis. This is electronic music done with grace and hook. This is what I want on my radio every day. Favorite track: Let Go - Instrumental.

about

Son Lux New York, New York

From the start, Son Lux has operated as something akin to a sonic test kitchen. The band strives to question deeply held assumptions about how music is made and re-construct it from a molecular level. What began as a solo project for founder Ryan Lott expanded in 2014, thanks to a kinship with Ian Chang and Rafiq Bhatia too strong to ignore. ... more
